Construction Manager

The Position

 

Our client is looking for an Operations Manager with 10-15 years of experience leading field teams in a commercial construction environment.

 

 

The Organization

 

Our client, a Texas-based, full-service scaffolding provider.  They engineer, manufacture, rent and erect/dismantle for both commercial and industrial customers.  They have a long history of being fully dedicated to creating and maintaining safe work environments.  They are growing and need additional leadership to fuel that growth.

 

Their field staff of 100+ award-winning employees are supported by a full engineering department, a management commitment to continuous improvement and a total dedication to ultimate customer satisfaction.

 

(PRIVATE:  The company was started in 1945 and has locations in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Beaumont. It services all of Texas as well as parts of Oklahoma and Louisiana.  It is family-owned and nepotism has a long history.  In 2012 the owner hired a new (outside) President/CEO to change the culture and grow the company – a person who had been a financial consultant to the company in the past AND a long-time friend of mine.  The company has been awarded the ABC Platinum Safety Award for seven consecutive years as a tribute to their relentless dedication to safety.)

 

 

The Role/Situation

 

Our client is looking for a full-time, construction-experienced person to lead their field servicing team (3 superintendents, 7-8 foremen and about 100 workmen).  This person will become a key member to the top management team, interacting with President, Sales Department, Estimating, Engineering, Scheduling, Customer Support and customers directly.

 

There are no internal candidates ready to step up to this role.  They are looking externally to replace a person who has left the organization.  The role is currently being filled on a part-time basis by someone whose current primary responsibility is sales.

 

Experience/Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate will have commercial construction leadership experience, including work erecting and dismantling scaffolding.  Other key qualifications include:

 

·          Managerial bearing while able to relate to field staff

·          Ability to work with diverse stakeholders

·          Ability to juggle schedules/crews to accommodate shifting priorities

·          Bilingual, English/Spanish is a real plus
